Offers a scenic overlook of the Missouri, a historical marker, hiking trail, art gallery, and bird watching area.

Offers Ponca tribal artifacts, Native America artwork, and pictures from the tribal archives.

Lewis & Clark Campsite
Two miles west of the confluence of the Niobrara and Missouri Rivers by Niobrara.
The site is visible from the Railroad Bridge
Foot Trail and is marked with a "Fifteen Star - Fifteen Strip Flag" and a model camp from September 4, 1804.


 
Ponca Earthlodge

Offers a bison herd, historic Native American cemetery, and powwow area.
The Community Building is on the National Register of Historic Places.


 
Santee Indian Reservation
Northeast region of the state in Knox County
Home of the Santee Sioux since 1868. Prior that that was home of the Ponca who lived there since earliest recorded history.


 
Verdigre Heritage Museum
Located in downtown Verdigre, there are four buildings including a grist mill and jail.
Open by appointment only.


 
Boardwalk Back in Time and Winnetoon Mall

Winnetoon, NE
Boardwalk is open year-round.
Stores are open Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Also open Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Free of charge! The Boardwalk includes replicas of early Winnetoon storefronts, schoolhouse, trading post, and prairie grass gardens.
A working 1890's post office, antiques, carving, and a natural food store.
A log cabin and the historic city jail are located in the nearby park.


 
Sage Brother's Memorial
The Sage Brother's Memorial plaque was originally placed at the entrance to Sage Brother's Memorial Field.
In 1999 it was moved to downtown Niobrara, just north of the Niobrara Mall.


 
Shannon Trail
The Shannon Trail Promoters was created in 2001 in an effort to make Lewis & Clark history come alive, to promote tourism, and to unite area communities in a common effort. The Nebraska communities involved are Bloomfield, Bow Valley, Center, Creighton, Crofton, Hartington, Lindy, Niobrara, St. Helena, St. James, Santee, Verdel, Verdigre, Wausa, Winnetoon, Wynot, and the Ponca and Santee Sioux Nations.

The Lewis & Clark Expedition
The Lewis & Clark Campsite can be viewed from the Old Railroad Bridge Walking Trail from the East side of the Niobrara River or from the lookout at the Niobrara State Park. The campsite is marked by the "Fifteen-Star, Fifteen-Stripe Flag" and a model camp.

Mormon Monument
In 1846 Newell Knight, his family, and a company of Mormons left Nauvoo, IL to search out a home in the Rocky Mountains. Due to hardships, the group could not go on and they built a fort of log cabins by the Niobrara River. Due to illness, all died. The Mormon Monument was built in 1908. Those buried there are: Newell Knight, Mr. Caval, Lucy Brunson, Ann Boyce, Mrs. Rufus Tach, Mrs. Spicer Crandall, Mrs. Newell Drake, Mrs. Dame Gardurout Noble and Benjamin F. Mauer.
This monument is located 1 mile west and 1/2 mile south of Niobrara.
